Wishing origami cranes for MH370

I am not a huge fan of origami, but when I saw this beautiful origami in craft passion and the thought behind it, I thought it will be perfect for us to replicate. The crafter had made beautiful cranes from paper using origami technique and the Japanese legend goes that when you make a 1000 cranes you will be granted a wish.

With P still brooding over the missing Malaysian Airline, albeit with lesser intensity, I thought this will be a perfect project for him. The folding and pressing of paper is also a good fine motor activity.

I began by showing him the photo of the finished crane and explained the legend behind making the cranes. Of course, I had to do most of the making but I let P fold and press down the paper, which he did with great concentration.

We made 3 cranes before P ran out of patience, and then waited for Dad to come and hang it for us.

And the wish – you guessed it – finding the missing airline!
